Snack Snackity

All of the Lean Cuisines and NutriSystem meals are getting really old (like, ancient), and so I splurged last night and made one of my favorite snack foods. I call it White Christmas Chex Mix (my mom used to make it around Christmastime), but it's also known as Muddy Buddies and Doggie Chow. The recipe for it is on the back of your favorite Chex cereal box. I use the Rice Chex in mine. My family loves it (David especially, can you tell?), and it's really easy and quick to make. Here's the recipe...enjoy!
9 c. favorite Chex brand cereal
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar (or more...hee hee)
Place cereal in large bowl and set aside. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter until smooth, stirring often. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal. Mix. Place cereal and sugar in bag and shake until coated. Store in airtight container.

I Love a Man in Uniform

Ever since he was a wee boy, my little brother, Jason, has always dreamed of being in the Army. He would play "army man" in our treehouse, and one of his birthday parties was actually Army-themed, complete with camo and face paint.

So how neat is it that his dream is coming true? He'll be commissioned in May and serve our country in Afghanistan in the fall. He has been extremely successful in his career already, placing in the top five in the country during training, and he'll get more awards at the end of April for all of his hard work. I am so very proud of him.
This is Jason and his wife, Krystal, at a military formal last week. My niece, Zoey, is that little bump in Krystal's dress! She'll be here in June...we can't wait!

Little Girls Need Big Prayers

Jeff, Leatha, Eli, Easton, Bailey and Brooke Eaves
Bailey McKenna and Brooke McKenzie
I am so blessed to come from such a large family, and here are two of its tiniest members! Bailey McKenna and Brooke McKenzie Eaves were born on November 28th, 2007, and have overcome some big obstacles! They are finally at home with their parents and big brothers, but still have a lot of growing and healing to do. I know that Jeff and Leatha (my uncle and aunt) would appreciate your prayers as they provide and care for these little girls!

We're So Excited...

...because it's our first posting! It's taken me a little while to learn how to do everything, but what I've managed to pick up on is really neat! Dawson is chillin' in his swing while I work on our blog. Currently, we're listening to Lucky and Lola bark incessantly at a non-existent squirrel in the backyard (seriously? If they make doggie Valium, those puppies need it). David is working an open house. If you need a new home, I know a great one in Regenwood! Stay tuned for more postings...we hope you'll visit soon!
