A Walk on the Wild Side

Ok, so maybe "wild" is a bit of an exaggeration, but Saturday's Walk Now for Autism at the Nashville Superspeedway was busy, crowded and FUN!

Our team, "For the Love of Evan" more than $1,000...exceeding our goal and making all of us oh-so-happy! Thank you to everyone that donated. You played a big part in making the walk such a success. We are very thankful and so are Evan's parents, Leigh Ann and Derek.

Megan, Meagan and I worked the registration tables prior to the walk actually beginning as we anxiously and excitedly awaited Leigh Ann and Derek's arrival. You would not believe the people that came just to support friends or guy just happened to be working maintenance at the track on Saturday and just wanted to donate money - forget walking. He wrote a $200 check. What a big heart!
This was registration at the beginning...closer to walk time, it looked like Disney World.
I think we scared the snot out of about 50 people standing at the registration tables when Leigh Ann and Derek sneaked up on us. We SCREAMED with joy and basically tackled them.
We raised $160,000 for autism research. Yay, us!! And this is just the first year!
Me and my slightly delapidated "For the Love of Evan!" sign. It was a tiny bit hot. And windy. But so much fun and definitely one of the best fundraisers I have ever been to.

We can't wait for next year!!

You did such a GREAT job on our shirts! I was SO proud to wear it! I can't believe that one guy wrote such a big check on the spot. That is amazing! I have a feeling we'll be back again next year. Thank you, La, for all your support of Evan (and the rest of us Hortons, too)! Love you!
